Find What Produces Happiness

Great day everyone! I know I have neglected our soul food servings for the past week and I truly apologize. Things have been quite busy.  I found this old gem and found it quite apropos.  As we start our work day, and our work weeks–according to the schedules set for us by others (if you’re not fortunate enough to work for yourself), I think we all need to remember what is an illusion and what is real in our lives.  Hope you enjoy!

“Money had never made man happy nor will it.  There is nothing in its nature to produce happiness.  The more of it one has, the more one wants.” – Thomas Jefferson (who was wealthy and used his wealth to enslave others, ironically :-/)

Increase Your True Wealth

Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.” ― Epictetus

Today’s Soul Food is short and sweet. It seems, by what’s moved me in my last few posts, that the theme of the week is focused on the concept of money and wealth. Enjoy!

Choose Your Rating Wisely

“Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.” – Judy Garland

Great day, all! Today’s Soul Food is common sense wisdom from one of the most beloved talents we’ve “known”. Who knows the value of staying true to yourself, better than Judy?? Enjoy!

Be Helpful to Yourself

“…every time you fall, somebody’s there and every time you’d crawl, somebody’s there and you almost got burned but somebody was there so you never had to learn ’cause someone was there. Aint nobody gonna save you, savior self..” – Cree Summer, Savior Self

happiness is yours

Today’s Soul Food just reminds me of something my mother always told me, “God helps those who help themselves” and also a saying that is prevalent in Islam “If you take one step toward Allah, He takes two steps toward you”.  Sometimes we have to remember to put in the work to be the change and make the change we want in our lives or to be the one to help others rather than relying on everyone to be that for us.  When we can help ourselves we can better serve others, and vice versa. Be blessed! 🙂
