I’ve been away from spreading this positive wisdom for quite a while (about six months!!!) and, frankly, it shows. If our environment and our lives are a direct reflection of our minds and our inner selves, then mine has been a bit chaotic since I’ve slacked off on finding a good piece of information/inspiration to share with friends and strangers all over the world each day. I’m back to my commitment of sharing some good soul food each day. Hopefully it will be as much of a benefit to you as it is to me.
I was really touched by this proverb while reading a great blog post on http://www.diningwithdana.net . I think this proverb is simply ‘on point’. We all need to tap into our spiritual memory and remember ourselves – our true selves. Know who you are and own who you are so that no one else has the power of ownership over you. When you know yourself, you respect yourself and respect will save the world. 🙂
“If you don’t know who you are, anyone can name you. And if anyone can name you, you will answer to anything.” —African proverb
“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned.” – Gautama Buddha
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Be thankful for what you have and declare, I AM THANKFUL! After all, “I Am” are the two words that set your course.
“I used to care what people thought about me until one day I tried to pay my bills with their opinions.” – Anonymous (allegedly)
Student says “I am very discouraged, what should I do?”
Master says “Encourage others”
– Zen proverb
The best way to bring yourself out of a slump is to be of service to others. The best way to get encouragement for yourself is to encourage others. Super simple.
“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – Andre Gide
“20 years from now you will be disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the one’s you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
“…weeping may last through the night, but joy cometh in the morning.” – Psalms 30:5
Today, Joel Osteen, one of my favorite ministers, sent this scripture out as part of his daily email communications. As always, this word is right on time for me. Sometimes we need to remember that each day is a new opportunity to receive joy, so we need to embrace that possibility and expect to see joy every morning! 😉 The prayer that Joel Osteen concluded his message with is below:
Father, thank You for joy. Thank You for peace. Thank You for walking me through the difficult times. I choose to answer the door for joy every single morning so that I can walk in the strength You have given to me in Jesus’ name. Amen. — Joel & Victoria Osteen
PS – It’s good to be back!

No matter what you are going through or how hard things may seem, we all tend to seek, even in secret sometimes, that greater force out there in the universe that can help us and guide us to better days. While I fervently believe that force exists and is present and active in our lives (once we acknowledge and receive) I also know and believe that the greatest gift, truth and connection from that Highest Power is realizing and recognizing the presence of that power within ourselves. All that you seek in the universe is within YOU. Be that light you want to see in the world, as Gandhi said, and make a change! Decide today to be the best you that you can be and encourage others to do so, along the way.
“…That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Christian Bible, Romans 10: 9-13
No matter what your faith..or if you choose to practice no faith…at the very least, remember that the words you speak can change the course of your life and confessing your feelings, thoughts, sins, actions and deeds sends out an energy of salvation into the universe that will come back to you.
