Happiness Takes Courage

Standard

“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – Andre Gide

“20 years from now you will be disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the one’s you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

Do a New Thing

Standard

“How would your life be different if…You walked away from gossip and verbal defamation? Let today be the day…You speak only the good you know of other people and encourage others to do the same.” ― Steve Maraboli, ‘Life, the Truth, and Being Free’

changeMany of us threaten to turn over new leaves, to be a better person, to make a change in our lives but continue doing and saying and thinking the same things we always have. Like the saying goes, “there’s nothing to it, but to do it!” Will today be the day that you do a new thing? As my grandmother would say, with love, ‘either piss or get off the pot!’ 😉

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth…” – Isaiah 43:19

Embrace the Newness of Each Day

Standard

“…weeping may last through the night, but joy cometh in the morning.” – Psalms 30:5

Today, Joel Osteen, one of my favorite ministers, sent this scripture out as part of his daily email communications. As always, this word is right on time for me. Sometimes we need to remember that each day is a new opportunity to receive joy, so we need to embrace that possibility and expect to see joy every morning! 😉 The prayer that Joel Osteen concluded his message with is below:

Father, thank You for joy. Thank You for peace. Thank You for walking me through the difficult times. I choose to answer the door for joy every single morning so that I can walk in the strength You have given to me in Jesus’ name. Amen. — Joel & Victoria Osteen

Change

Standard

Great day all!! So today’s Soul Food may not seem inspirational to some but it inspires me. Sometimes the best inspiration is acceptance of the situations of life. Once we accept a situation, we can decide how we want to conquer, address or correct it.  I think this is perfect for a Monday and whenever I hear it (audio link below), I am filled with determination to enjoy life more and not be a “slave to the money”. Enjoy!

‘Cause it’s a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
You’re a slave to money then you die
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the veins meet yeah,

No change, I can’t change
I can’t change, I can’t change
But I’m here in my mold
I am here in my mold
But I’m a million different people
from one day to the next
I can’t change my mold
No, no, no, no, no

Well I never pray
But tonight I’m on my knees yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airways are clean and there’s nobody singing to me now

No change, I can’t change
I can’t change, I can’t change
But I’m here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I’m a million different people
from one day to the next
I can’t change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
I can’t change
I can’t change

‘Cause it’s a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
Try to find some money then you die
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the things meet yeah

You know I can’t change, I can’t change
I can’t change, I can’t change
But I’m here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I’m a million different people
from one day to the next
I can’t change my mold
No, no, no, no, no

I can’t change my mold
no, no, no, no, no,
I can’t change
Can’t change my body,
no, no, no

I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
Been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Have you ever been down?
Have you’ve ever been down?

-Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve

It’s Time to Change Our Thinking…

Standard

“Well now it’s time we change our thinking
Know our design, and our Father’s plan
We were deemed to live a life that’s beautiful; a life that’s full; a life that’s rich and plentiful
It is my goal to remind you of this principle
We’re redeemed; a newborn soul
Let’s get back to Eden; live on top of the world!….

LIVE… IT’S NOT  TIME FOR YOU TO GIVE UP NOW! (LIVE!) God’s gonna work it out, you’re getting ready to SMILE (LIVE!)…THE BLESSING IS ON YOU TO LIVE…”

-Donald Lawrence from “Back to Eden

Great day all! Let’s all remember to keep our minds and hearts focused on our blessings and what matters MOST in life so we can create peace in our lives and the lives of others. To enjoy this song and really “party” in this message, see link below 😉

Get With The Times

Standard

Today’s Soul Food is timeless.
The Times They Are A Changin’

-Bob Dylan

Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who that it’s namin’
For the loser now will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside and it is ragin’
It’ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin’
And the first one now will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’
