Good morning great people!
Far too often in life, we need to be reminded that we have the opportunities, in every moment, to be our best selves. Many of us live our lives according to what others may think or say about us and the decisions we make. Remember today that no one can have power over you and your life unless you give it to them.
“Care what other people think and you will always be their prisoner.” – Lao Tzu
“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned.” – Gautama Buddha
“All that we send into the lives of others comes back into our own.” – Edwin Markham
When I think of gratitude, universal law, the law of attraction, the Golden Rule or reciprocity I am always drawn to images in my mind of the ocean. The rhythm of the ocean, the flow of the ocean, how the beach continues to give while the ocean takes and then returns back to the beach the same elements it was given, in addition to a little bit more from farther out and deeper within the ocean. If you think about it in that context, then universal law doesn’t seem so mystifying. The beauty of God’s teachings for us is that we can see the lesson all around us, if we take a moment to look. Next time, think about the ocean and how the sea works in conjunction with the moon and the beach on a continuous basis. As long as all three parties are giving, they are getting it back, and then some, in return.
God is real.
“So many people don’t live for today. They are completely consumed with the future, and yet it is how we live today that creates our future. It is what you feel today that matters, because it is the only thing that determines your future. Every day is an opportunity for a new life. Every day you stand at the tipping point of your life. And on any one day you can change the future – through the way you feel. When you tip the balance to good feelings, the force of love will change your life so fast that you will scarcely believe it.” – The Power, Rhonda Byrne
Whenever I read or hear of a great philosophy concerning the power of love and how love conquers all, I always remember that God is love. 😉
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Be thankful for what you have and declare, I AM THANKFUL! After all, “I Am” are the two words that set your course.
Student says “I am very discouraged, what should I do?”
Master says “Encourage others”
– Zen proverb
The best way to bring yourself out of a slump is to be of service to others. The best way to get encouragement for yourself is to encourage others. Super simple.
“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – Andre Gide
“20 years from now you will be disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the one’s you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
“How would your life be different if…You walked away from gossip and verbal defamation? Let today be the day…You speak only the good you know of other people and encourage others to do the same.” ― Steve Maraboli, ‘Life, the Truth, and Being Free’
Many of us threaten to turn over new leaves, to be a better person, to make a change in our lives but continue doing and saying and thinking the same things we always have. Like the saying goes, “there’s nothing to it, but to do it!” Will today be the day that you do a new thing? As my grandmother would say, with love, ‘either piss or get off the pot!’ 😉
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth…” – Isaiah 43:19
(link to watch is at the bottom of this post)
These are the days of the open hand
They will not be the last
Look around now
These are the days of the beggars and the choosers
This is the year of the hungry man
Whose place is in the past
Hand in hand with ignorance
And legitimate excuses
The rich declare themselves poor
And most of us are not sure
If we have too much
But we’ll take our chances
Because God stopped keeping score
I guess somewhere along the way
He must have let us alt out to play
Turned his back and all God ‘s children
Crept out the back door
And it’s hard to love, there’s so much to hate
Hanging on to hope
When there is no hope to speak of
And the wounded skies above say it’s much, much too late
Well maybe we should all be praying for time
These are the days of the empty hand
Oh you hold on to what you can
And charity is a coat you wear twice a year
This is the year of the guilty man
Your television takes a stand
And you find that what was over there is over here
So you scream from behind your door
Say “what’s mine is mine and not yours”
I may have too much but i’ll take my chances
Because God stopped keeping score
And you cling to the things they sold you
Did you cover your eyes when they told you
That He can’t come back
Because He has no children to come back for?
It’s hard to love there’s so much to hate
Hanging on to hope when there is no hope to speak of
And the wounded skies above say it’s much too late
So maybe we should all be praying for time
– George Michael, Praying for Time
“…weeping may last through the night, but joy cometh in the morning.” – Psalms 30:5
Today, Joel Osteen, one of my favorite ministers, sent this scripture out as part of his daily email communications. As always, this word is right on time for me. Sometimes we need to remember that each day is a new opportunity to receive joy, so we need to embrace that possibility and expect to see joy every morning! 😉 The prayer that Joel Osteen concluded his message with is below:
Father, thank You for joy. Thank You for peace. Thank You for walking me through the difficult times. I choose to answer the door for joy every single morning so that I can walk in the strength You have given to me in Jesus’ name. Amen. — Joel & Victoria Osteen
PS – It’s good to be back!
