Fly Away With ME

“If it were possible, I would gather the race in my arms and fly away with them.” – Ida B. Wells

Today’s Soul Food is a reminder that in all things we do, we must think of the impact on others, not just ourselves. We are only fulfilled in our purpose when our purpose includes improving the lives of others.

Build Your Bridge

Young Women at Civil Rights Rally“I am where I am because of the bridges that I crossed. Sojourner Truth was a bridge. Harriet Tubman was a bridge. Ida B. Wells was a bridge. Madame C. J. Walker was a bridge. Fannie Lou Hamer was a bridge.” -Oprah Winfrey

Greetings great people! Today’s Soul Food is such a great reminder that we must always find for ourselves heroes and role models from the generations who came before us so that our vision of what we must do for ourselves, in the now, is clear and so we can take from those role models the strength to see our goals become our reality.  Search yourself and identify a role model who represents the kind of person you want to be or represents the strength you admire, and then become that person so that you can be a role model for the next generation.

Rank Holds No Rule

“Make no distinction in your behavior between those of rank and the common people” – Ptah Hotep, 2340 B.C.

Great morning all!! I have been so remiss in sending out the daily words of wisdom this past week. Well, I am back on track and hope that these words find you well.  Today’s Soul Food is an old wisdom reminder to all of us to treat everyone equally, regardless of status.  In our society (from 2340 BC to the age of now), we sometimes allow ourselves to get caught up in another person’s position, status, possessions, etc. and allow that to  influence how we treat them, ourselves and others.

Decide today that you will not allow outside influences to dictate how you treat your fellow human being.
